Is renly gay in the books

Identity: Gay Renly Baratheon was one of the first gay characters introduced in ‘Game of Thrones,’ although his sexual preferences were only rumored during the earlier part.

The GoT TV series doesn't leave much to the imagination, but they carry it off with more authenticity than most nowadays. I like that the show did actually show their relationship, it recognized that lgbt characters do exist, and don't need to be so subtle even those who know can barely spot it.
The jibes by Stannis about MargaerayCersei's strangeness re. Loras in A Feast for CrowsMaester Cressen's description of Renly as a child, Loras being upset about being asked how his sister was coping, the boys private ""praying"" sessions, plus Baelish: "" and when will you be having YOUR friend??
Spoilers main Why are : When in the books do we find out Renly is gay? Other than the whole rainbowguard thing there's no mention of him being with loras tyrell

One kinda gets the feeling that the TV series only expanded on it to have a homosexual scene, a load of shows do this; most soaps have two or three gay characters, which is great and everything, but it comes across as if they're only in the script for the sale of it, and that their sexuality ends up defining their entire character.
PS thanks for reading this far, you rock!! Write a comment Higgsboson Aug 21, AM 4 votes. Or hinted that they are not?. Ava Honestly it was WAY too subtle in the books. Obviously for HBO they gotta sex it up a little though :. Brad Jul 16, PM 15 votes.
I realized about Renly in the start of Storm, but Sansa's fangirling over Loras really threw me off. Renly is in a gay relationship with Loras, but plausible deniability must be established in-universe. Leona Jul 03, PM 1 vote.
However, after he declared himself king following the death of his older brother, Renly showed his true colors when he refused to touch his wife, Margaery Tyrell. Lara Ruark Jul 22, PM 2 votes.

I knew they were together before I started reading and I found one scene in ACOK that shows their relationship, but barely anything else. Nour Wanace BUT in the show, Loras' being gay was his only prominent personality trait, other than that, there is no character development and the character is ju BUT in the show, Loras' being gay was his only prominent personality trait, other than that, there is no character development and the character is just written badly in the show.
The only thing I'd say would be that there was more than enough sex in A. My own opinion at least. Was it hinted anywhere that both or any of them are homosexual? It's much more subtle in the books, though I think it's still meant to be inferred. Its easy to miss it though because I know people who've read the books and not picked up on it at all.
Renly and Loras being together is not blatantly stated at any point in the books, but there are a few hints. I started reading the books after the series and now I think this was never in the books.
